Got Questions? I've Got Answers!

Welcome to the FAQ corner of Penny Apple Studio - where curiosity is encouraged and no question is too small (or too quirky). Whether you're wondering about shipping times, paper types, pet portraits, or how strong those magnets really are (spoiler: pretty strong), you're in the right place.

Have a scroll through the most commonly asked questions below. And if your question isn’t covered, feel free to get in touch - I’m always happy to help!

  • What kind of products do you sell?
I create original acrylic artworks, custom pet portraits, fine art prints, greeting cards and magnets - all painted in my signature loose and bold style. There are new projects on the horizon too, so the shop will keep growing with fresh and playful offerings.

Are your products made in Australia?
Yes! Everything is proudly created and printed locally in Australia with lots of love and quality materials.

    Are prints signed?
Absolutely! Each print is hand-signed in pencil in the white border.

Will my print look like the original painting?
Very close! Colours may vary slightly due to screen differences, but I personally ensure that each print reflects the vibrancy and texture of the original artwork.

  • Are pet portrait commissions currently open?
Commissions open a few times a year. Join the Art Lovers mailing list to be the first to know when spots become available.

How do I commission a portrait?
Visit the Pet Portraits page to view prices, details and submit your enquiry.

Can you paint in a different style?
Nope! I stick to my signature expressive realism style - loose, vibrant and full of personality!

  • All of my prints include a clean white border around the artwork. This border gives space for my pencil signature (bottom right) and allows you more flexibility when framing.

The artwork size refers to the printed image itself - for example, an 8x8" print means the image area is 8x8", with the white border sitting outside that. This applies to all sizes I offer.

The white border means you can:

    • Float-frame to show the full border, signature and all

    • Use a mat that covers the border for a clean, edge-to-edge look

    • Or trim it to suit your frame if that’s your style

The best part? You get to choose how it’s displayed - framed neat and tidy, or with that lovely artisan touch of the border and signature visible.

If you ever have questions about sizing, paper edges or framing options, feel free to message me - I’m always happy to help.

  • Prints and cards are delicate little pieces of joy and they’ll last beautifully with a little care. I recommend framing prints using acid-free mats or storing them flat in a dry, cool space. While protective sleeves are used for transit, they aren’t meant for long-term storage - especially if compostable - so best to remove them if you're not framing straight away.

Greeting cards are printed on high-quality stock and are blank inside unless otherwise stated. If you're saving one for a future occasion, just keep it in a cool, dry drawer away from sunlight.

  • Where do you ship to?

I ship Australia-wide and to selected international destinations including New Zealand, the USA, the UK and Canada.
Not sure if your country is included? Send me a message and I’ll check for you.

    How much is shipping?

    Within Australia:
    Orders under $30 – just $4.95
Orders over $30 – FREE with code FREESHIP30
Upgrade to Express Post – $8.95

    International:
New Zealand – $15 flat rate
USA, UK, Canada – $20 flat rate

How long will my order take to arrive?

Most orders are packed and posted within 1–3 business days.
Delivery time depends on your location and chosen shipping method. You’ll receive tracking details as soon as it’s on the way!

    How is my artwork packaged?

Prints, cards, and magnets are packed with care in rigid mailers or sturdy flat boxes to protect them during transit.

    🌿 Planet-friendly note:
Your order may arrive in recycled or repurposed packaging, including reused bubble wrap or plastic. These materials already exist, so giving them another life keeps them out of landfill - a small but mighty step towards reducing waste.

If you can, please reuse the packaging again - together we can keep the cycle going and reduce unnecessary waste.

Prefer new packaging only? No problem at all - just leave a note at checkout or email me at the time of ordering and I’ll make sure your parcel is packed using all new materials.

  • I want you to absolutely love what you receive from Penny Apple Studio. If something’s not quite right, you're welcome to return your item within 7 days of delivery - no stress, no fuss.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Just send me a quick message to let me know

    • Items must be returned unused and in original condition

    • You’ll need to cover return postage

    • Once I receive it back safe and sound, I’ll process your refund within 1-3 business days

Please package it well for the journey home - nobody likes bruised brushstrokes!

Please note: returns aren't available for custom orders.

What if I made a mistake in my order?

No worries - just email me as soon as possible. If your order hasn’t been packed yet, I’ll do my best to update it for you.

  • Wherever possible, I use recycled or repurposed packaging materials - including things like reused bubble wrap, cardboard, or mailers from previous orders. You may also notice clear protective sleeves on some items. These aren’t newly purchased - they’re leftover from a past business and are being used rather than thrown away.

Once those run out, I’ll be transitioning to more sustainable options like compostable sleeves and recycled paper wrapping. It’s part of reducing waste and making conscious, planet-friendly choices - without compromising on protecting your artwork.

  • Where else can I buy your work?
You can shop my collection of original paintings over on my Madeit store, with new releases added throughout the year.

I’ll also be part of the @markets_are_us online markets:

    • August 11th–18th 2025

    • Christmas Market: November 3rd–10th 2025

There’ll be a special discount code running during those events - check out @markets_are_us on Instagram for details.

Do you sell through any retail shops or galleries?
Not yet - but I hope to in the future!
If you’re a shop or gallery interested in stocking my cards, prints, or magnets, I’d love to chat. Feel free to email me at - let’s make something beautiful together.
